About Me
Hello, I'm Shirin, a freelance illustrator based in Glasgow, Scotland.
I specialise in scientific illustration, creature concept design, animal illustration, and pet portraiture. With a background in biology, I’m especially skilled for projects requiring an in-depth knowledge of animal anatomy and evolution and can additionally offer scientific consultation for creature design. My fantasy artwork aims for a feel of believability in the creatures I create, and I love projects relating to speculative biology and evolution.
As well as realism, I draw stylised and cartoon work. I’m proficient in several media, notably digital illustration, as well as graphite, colour pencil, watercolour, ink, markers, and charcoal.

I regularly hold art classes in Bishopbriggs and elsewhere in Glasgow. I’m also available for private tuition online and in person. While I specialise in animals, I tutor a range of subjects and also offer tuition for academic art courses.

Besides working as an illustrator, I'm also an editor specialising in fantasy and science fiction. As well as working on perfecting the prose of your manuscript, I also offer scientific consultation where needed for world-building and other elements of the story.
